Economic Transformation Programme (ETP)

Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) introduced on 25 September 2010, is a major milestone that will propel Malaysia towards achieving a developed nation status in line with Vision 2020. The ETP is a comprehensive effort that will help propel Malaysia into a high income nation that is inclusive and sustainable.

ETP focuses on the 12 National Key Economic Areas (NKEAs), namely agriculture, business services, education, electrical and electronics, financial services, healthcare, Greater Kuala Lumpur/Klang Valley, oil, gas and energy, palm oil, communications and infrastructure, tourism, wholesale and retail businesses. ETP is anchored by eight Strategic Reform Initiatives (SRI), namely: (1) To enhance the private sector to promote growth (2) Developing a quality workforce and reducing dependency on foreign workers (3) Creating a competitive domestic economy (4) Strengthening sector public (5) Transparent and market friendly affirmative action (6) Building a knowledge-based infrastructure (7) Raise sources of growth (8) Ensuring sustainability of growth.
