Call for Papers

INTAN invites and welcomes submissions to the Journal of Economics and Policy from all Malaysian civil servants or persons attached to the Malaysian government. Submissions should adhere to the scope of the journal which covers issues in the fields of economics, business, finance, trade, and public policy relevant to Malaysia. Submissions are accepted in the following formats:

Research Articles

The Journal of Economics and Policy welcomes research articles of 7,000–9,000 words (including footnotes and references) based on original analysis of a policy issue. All articles should have relevance to both academics and practitioners in the fields of economics, business, finance, trade and public policy.

Articles should aim to provide new empirical information and possess a clear, consistent, and cogent argument that is differentiated from or positioned within the existing academic literature of the covered areas.

All submissions should be original and should not be under consideration or have been published elsewhere.

Policy Perspectives

The Journal of Economics and Policy welcomes policy perspective submissions between 4,000–5,000 words (including footnotes and references). Policy perspectives pieces should be opinion-driven pieces covering economics, business, finance, trade, and public policy that bridge academic and policy circles.

While we do not expect these pieces to apply the same level of empirical rigour associated with research articles, these should still utilise robust and deep use of academic and other empirical sources, consistent and cogent argumentation, and clear and accessible writing. We discourage pieces that are sabre-rattling and contain inflammatory and unsubstantiated rhetoric.

All submissions should be original and should not be under consideration or have been published elsewhere.

Book Reviews

The Journal of Economics and Policy welcomes book reviews covering the latest scholarship across the whole field of economics, business, finance, trade and public policy. Book reviews are usually between 700–900 words long. A review of two books may be accepted but should be approximately between 900–1,000 words.

A book review should inform the reader of the book’s content, quality, and place in the overall context of its field, including any perceived shortcomings. Criticism is healthy; provided that it is based on substantive points rather than due to ideological differences.

All submissions should be original and should not be under consideration or have been published elsewhere.
