THE EFFECTS OF RISING PRICES OF GOODS AND COST OF LIVING ON CONSUMERS AFTER THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Abstract
The issue of rising prices of goods is not a new phenomenon today. However, the impact of Movement Control Order (MCO) has a greater impact on the whole world, including Malaysia. This increase has caused Malaysians to spend more. Rising prices of goods have affected everyone. The objective of this study is to identify the effects of rising prices of goods and cost of living on consumers after the COVID-19 pandemic. The methodology used in this study is qualitative by using phenomenological methods on 8 respondents. The findings of this study also show that several themes have been formed such as financial well-being, consumer coping, job satisfaction declines, social problem and mental health problem. The discussion of this study found that researchers can use qualitative methodology to get more details and depth about the topic. The researcher focus on government measures to control the price of goods. Bank Negara Malaysia is urgently needed to control inflation and drive the transition to a fair, sustainable economy.
