About Us

INTAN Northern Region Campus or better known as INTURA, began it’s operation in Sungai Petani, Kedah in April 1983. Covering an area of 50 acres, this campus was inaugurated on 21 July 1983 by DYMM Sultan of Kedah at that time, the late Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah. In line with the motto 'Training for Development', INTURA bears the responsibility of developing the human capital of the public service by providing quality and effective training in various areas such as team building, management, personal development, finance, ICT, quality, and ethics.

In making Malaysia a developed country, the development of civil service human capital has become an important national agenda. This is because the civil service has to face a range of new challenges that are more complex and ever-changing. Looking at this phenomenon, there is a need for team strengthening programmes that can help to harmonize the goals of team members with the goals of the organization to produce optimal and effective results.

In line with the need for a team building programme, INTURA has been selected among the five regional campuses to be the Team Building Centre of Excellence. The implementation of the Team Building Course at INTURA was further strengthened with the construction of the INTAN Leadership Development Park (iLEAD Park) in 2014 which contains 15 low element barriers. To further diversify the activities in the course, the INTAN Challenge Cube (InCUBE) which contains high rope activities and dark rooms was built in 2016 as one of the additional components in iLEAD Park.

Expertise

The Malay proverb above illustrates the importance and the power of teamwork. This is because each individual in a team has different competencies in terms of abilities, expertise, skills, and knowledge. If these competencies are synergized, a precise and strong team can be formed and certainly the team will be capable of facing any form of challenge ahead.

Recognizing the importance of teamwork, INTURA has been selected as a Team Building Centre of Excellence. The Team Building Unit, INTURA is given the responsibility to organize programmes that emphasize the spirit of camaraderie and meet the following objectives:

  • Build a network of close cooperation

  • Enhance understanding, mutual respect, loyalty, and friendship

  • Understand the role and values of leadership in a team to achieve organizational excellence

  • Understand the importance of communicating effectively

  • Strengthen coordination, cooperation, and relationships in solving problems creatively and innovatively

Since team strengthening programmes also involve activities outside the lecture room, there are always exposure to various risks. To ensure the safety of facilitators and participants are at the maximum level, each facilitator is provided with various knowledge and skills related to first aid and rescue, as well as as the correct handling of outdoor activities.
